It’s the 18th October 2023 today, waking up to a damp autumn here in the Scottish Borders.
My customary early wake news, Radio Scotland, presented by youngsters, done from home – sorry, we’ve run out of time – and really, it’s Radio Glasgow!
It’s war. War guys, war between the Hezbullah, c/o Palestine location and Israel. Thousands of people dead, in Israel and Palestine, the Western world supporting Israel against Hezbulah but ignoring that Israel has killed thousands too. The Palestine group bomb, shoot children and families- ah….!! So do the Israelis. There is no water for hostages, no power, no food no medical attention. People just die.
The Hamas are the terrorists – all rich countries agree, send their leaders to Israel to confirm that ‘we are on your side’. The Israelis carry the virtue.
Other warring countries are mentioned, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Russia and a couple of
‘ – istans’ – . The list of Western allies to Israel is just assumed, including the UK, USA and the other usual suspects.
It’s complicated and complex. What I do know, is that it involves killing people, every hour of the day – people like you and me. Have a look beyond and at what I assume is still UK shit press- unless surpassed by the poisonous big bomb, this shambles will still be going on, no solution, if and when you are old enough to be interested.
I ask, ‘whose side am I supposed to be on?’
Relegated to page 5 is the other ‘it’s been going a while’ war. Ukraine and Russia, on day 604. This war has developed a mile or two, a thousand dimensions of civic deals, control and nationalism, the big Dog, Putin threatening dirty bomb death every day, UK selling the tools to do this deed.
It’s complicated and complex. What I do know is that it involves killing people every hour of the day – people like you and me.
We raise money, foster kids, feed adults and help the whole Ukrainian nation. Seems to be right.
UK has kind people, who are supportive of charitable works – the government encourages this, it keeps taxes low, right- wingers rich. Give it some thought.
On pages 15 – 17 national press there are articles on the other ‘aye happenin’ wars in Africa, South America – they are there forever, and get less and less focus every day, month, year.
Todays other headlines are a pending Storm, RED grade, followed by a bunch of stormy anger scares. It is making a real serious mess of East Central Scotland – often it’s the West that gets it!
Rangers get a mention, so meaningless no one can remember it 20 seconds after – remember its Radio Glasgow – two English bye – elections where labour – where have they been – hammered the Tories, big surprises apparently – counting future chickens here, I warn you.
