Dearest grand weans!!
It’s towards the end of January 2024 and is freezing outside, not too warm inside either!
I’m looking forward to a holiday at the end of the month, meeting some friends in Thailand – dreading the travel, but looking forward to the venue, Seaflower site ‘Koh Phanang’, an island near the island of Koh Samui, South Thai sea, that is much better known but busier.
A bungalow on the beach amongst the palm and coconut trees, with the sandy beach on the doorstep, food and bar on the other doorstep- recently added pool too, near some new poolside rooms. I’ve been a few times, everything on the doorstep, as mentioned and good people from a dozen countries to catch up with again.. If not too much changes, in the future, go here, ask for the owners and say hi from me. It’ll get you in the door. Nice folks!
Need to be though, 3 flights and 24 hours later with short bus and ferry rides too! Rubbish for the arthritic limbs these days, so maybe my last visit. I’ll be 69 this time round, in March and then milestone 70 if I return next year. If spared!!
This is a blog effort before February is out. The mess here in the UK that I leave behind that is affecting the citizens of our country deepens by the day. The headline is the Post Office fraud, where tragically hundreds of people have suffered under. Read it up one day, a government mess that has killed people and ruined hundreds of lives. Huge.
The government are currently bombing Yemen, deciding to side with – is it Israel or Hammas/ Gaza in a seemingly unsolvable eastern war, again.22,000 children killed by the Israelis.
On page 3 the Russians are killing Ukranians, still. The UK has created a shambles of an immigration policy, ramming people into ‘jails’.and attempting to send them African Rwanda- like the old slave days.
The Windrush tragedy continues, a racist crime, people waiting to die rather than be treated properly.
Pensioner ladies WASPI LADIES are robbed of their rightful monies- UK Government.
The COVID pandemic hearings are full of lying politicians who have lied and stolen. Three , goodness, ex prime ministers are lying about their work on this. The local authorities in England are going bankrupt – UK gov. Again.
The support for disabled kids is being cut, also for families. No one is doing anything for the one in three kids who are living in poverty. This is UK monied folks not giving a damn.
The NHS – is that still around for you all? Struggles and not one effort is made for leaders to create imaginative ways to right the imbalances. Basically our government is pushing to the right and screwing young emergent generations. WE NEED A REVOLUTION!!
Homelessness for me is the cardinal sin of any ruling group. Everyone deserves a roof, a home, shelter, warmth, safety, security. Our government plays the fear factor on all things but no home, no income is up there, it keeps people scared and powerless.
Cost of food and heating is an established blight, people with money sit tight and make others suffer. Food, heat and water – almost biblical, in fact I believe it is. How can we do this to people?
Services for people……in the next couple of months Councils all over the UK will cut services to the majority of citizens in our nation. There are some shit Councils but this is in the hand of the Tory government – take away the authority, take away the power to organise and lead.
By the way, the third sector, more and more charitable organisations are folding yet these are the very organisations that save the soul of our nation -and our government exploits this.
