Happy new year as we limp into 2026 and peer ahead through the mist of, well, everything including all the rotten things we have created in the last period of time – politicians and greedy citizens to be given loads of the blame!!!
Sandy, Alba, Anna, Breagha and the fabulous Faye, Fayzee, – it’s time to look ahead a wee bit, I think. Loads of people thinking about new year resolutions, media, family and all, to lay down some ‘stuff’ for the new year.
I won’t go into that too much, it’s all a load of nonsense in my view, we all make statements and then give them up in a few weeks – maybe months? What do you think?
It’s all too late for me but I reckon unless you are ready to change life in the main it won’t work at all – wholesale changes to your behaviour, habits, cravings, addictions, minor and major as well as living patterns. Of course, by the time you see this, if you do, living life in our country, the UK, will be an even more uncomfortable existence than it is now. Goodness, for want of a swear word, our leaders, politicians are really messing it up. I mean in the UK of course but here in Scotland we are in the middle of a real ‘burach’ of a community world. We are only saved by those who care on a kindness, charitable basis – and even then, a few of them have worked out what embezzlement means. This is in June 2006.
I’ve been ill for a while, so have missed out on writing for some tIme – Yeah I know, not much of a miss – but I’m going to try to get up to speed again, try a few ideas and do a blog on a regular but not too often basis – better some words on a page rather than only in the thoughts – and work towards a decent ‘load’ so that I can leave this site and work towards you getting a pile of them in due course.
I’ve also got a half baked plan where I’m going to ask some friends to write/contribute a 600 word-ish piece offering their view and aspirations of the world to add to all of this- a variety of this is how the world is. Idea? Hope so, only a good idea if it turns into an ‘act’.
I’ve had a poetry block too- not that it was/is much use anyhow, but ideas, original or not, are not falling from trees – so I’ll provoke some movement there I hope. Shake the tree and see what falls!
Maybe another short booklet? Steady!! Ambition can be a choker.
So, I’m working towards the next blog – about the world cup- the mens football , every four years version, where we should be in the middle stages of the tournament by then. My spot on views will be available!!
It starts as a tourney today in fact, Thursday 11th June, with the opening match hosted by Mexico visited by South Africa. This follows most of the teams playing practice friendlies off and on, so now it’s business time, groups of four playing each other and trying to win a group to move into knock out stages…
The tournament issuing hosted by, principally, the United States, with Mexico and Canada as partners. The fact that this involves president corrupt trump is enough to stop any interest I have, limit it to TV. However there are thousands of the tartan Army fans hiding off to have a good time. Oh yes. However, in the future, read back at the 2026 World Cup- there will be stories a plenty that reflect on the greediest that is the USA.
This is the biggest number of teams – 48 – in any world cup, arguably to encourage the ‘lesser’ nations access. This follows there own qualifying processes. My view – fodder for the big boys!
Home interest is of course Scotland who have qualified for a finals tournament for the first time in 28 years, excitement mounts as Scot’s fans do what they can to be there, beer there and cheer there! I imagine where it goes well it will be bloody marvellous, where it hiccups could be awful. We’ll see – I’ll write about it soon, couple of weeks maybe, in the future I hope you can be bothered to look back and see how it went.
England are in it too. A month of prejudice and bias in the media at all levels – who cares? Mind, they have great players, less worthy team. Awful broadcasters!!! Love.
