Well, its 25th December 2024 my bonnie bairns and we are all in the middle of what people call the happy and peaceful best days of the year. Really?

Happy Christmas my weans, Sandy, university going ok? Alba primary 3 going ok? And your gymnastics?You are good in the kitchen at home! Breagha, how is the screaming going? You have the smile to brighten a room and the scream to go with it that knocks buildings down. Ask your mum and dad. They have tales to tell. Anna my smiling princess, you are always in good form, smiling and laughing learning how to say handsome granddad – good lass!! Faye, little sister, a just two year old monster, brooooaaaaagh! I tell you girl you will be a bright one and keep that chuckle going, it will open doors. And cause havoc. Can’t wait for that my chuclin’ lass!!
Anyway, back to Christmas.
As I mentioned it’s in the middle of the happiest time of the year! Or so say the adverts, news reporters, TV programmes, radio interviewers and so called ‘experts’ on Christmas food, catering and ‘happy special times’!
This usually follows on from the ever increasing miserable news headlines that represents how the UK is getting on with a new government – kids, when you look back in 15 years or so, have a comparison with you and what’s going on around you and compare with the UK governments operation over the past year – The Conservatives who are and have been in the past 15 years the greediest nastiest example of lying public servants, politicians and a range of failed Prime Ministers. Years on investigations into ‘where has the money gone’?, still continue.
We have a Labour government at the moment, 6 months in and they have no idea how to ‘be with the nation and it’s citizens’! Oh no, oh no!
We shall see!
Back to best of times and so on. All of the stories about wonderful times are the images of full dinner tables with turkey, beef, ham, salmon and veg of every continent with sauces, jams, condiments crackers, and ‘extra’ gifts, trifles, puddings and sweets and stockings!! And most in the UK except the middle class radio people/listeners can’t pay for their heating or clothes of their children.
2024 has continued with the blood transfusion scandal carrying on, Post Office mess refusing to find the culprits, the post pandemic culprits -money for friends – goodness, the Windrush era has not closed it’s story, now I fear it never will as it’s cemented into the fabric of the UK governments life and existence. Cemented into I’m sorry to say, the peoples soul, racism is a very special part of Britains physiology and psychology – not all of it but more than we want to believe.

I was watching take the midwife’ and people in the late ’60’s. It reminded me of the time I was , my family was, thrown out by the bailiffs, back in those days……and it’s happening to thousands of families today. Still.
