PERMISSION
A dictator collected all people
And speaking to them
”Listen to me, I know
The one who laugh,
Laugh to my chair!
The one who cry,
Cry for my position!
So that I decide;
Both of laughing and crying
Are prohibited without our permission” (from Kurdish) Yaseen Muhammed

I seem to have spent a week on the phone speaking to digital advisors suggesting I press one of several numbers to take me forward. Damn their eyes I say, my depression can only sink so far with human intervention without adding a tinge of digi-despair. Road tax, 3 types of insurance, money transfer, BT extension and an *SSL certificate. Hours upon hours of hanging on for the most part. For them to say ‘it’s ok.
As ever though, the wise poets ask, ‘is there a poem idea in here somewhere?’. Am I angry enough to write something interesting enough? Do I have the words to express my f*&%!*g emotions?
What and however, there has to be an idea in that lot above, – it’s the posed question at the top of a lot of ‘How To….’ books and so on – how do I find something to write about? What topic and so on.
A lot of songs have been written around ‘hanging on the telephone’, ‘leaving messages’ ‘I love you’ and so on. Why not poems? Why not my own poems? After all there are millions out there. So, a sonnet around an *SSL certificate perhaps. Good grief. Has it been done before?

*The SSL certificate-I received the permission to communicate with you safely with this – thanks to George who guides me tech wise. So your fine and safe to access any of my stuff – I thought it only fair given that I was exposing you to my ‘work’.

*An SSL certificate is a type of digital certificate that provides authentication for a website and enables an encrypted connection. These certificates communicate to the client that the web service host demonstrated ownership of the domain to the certificate authority at the time of certificate issuance.
Buy ensuring that all data passed between the two parties remains private and secure, SSL encryption can help prevent hackers from stealing private information such as credit card numbers, bank information, names, and addresses.

Heres the idea, so please good reader have a go at the ‘SSL Sonnet. Good luck! My theme though is one that I felt was being delivered to me at all levels in the past week especially the government agencies. The word, my theme, is ‘permission’.

Given, assumed, licensed, permission givers, permission frauds…and on and on. Having permission taken away from us, by government, bosses, parents and giving others permission to carry out the unspeakable on others. What of assuming self permission to exact the act of awfulness on an innocent. So many contexts. I’ll give that some thought and get back – eventually.
I have permission to drive, to pay insurances, to communicate, to go out, to pay bills.

Others have permission to hit other people. Hm.
