POST ELECTION

We’ve had our General Election, UK wide on 4th July, it’s the 7th today and the media repetition of ‘whatiffery’ continues to cause mental health issues across the nation. Though, for sure, not the same issues for all.

Who is at the top of politics these days guys? As you speak? As you read? In your world? It nearly fell apart yesterday, the government fell apart, the Conservatives that is, Labour Party achieved the biggest number of seats since time began and the Tories who broke this nation fell apart. We lost many long standing M.P.’s through resignation and defeat, some, many, will not be missed

We have a small but growing group, the ‘REFORM’ group who are sufficient to say, right wing horrors, led by the advanced horror of Nigel Farage who won a seat in parliament at the 8th time of trying – there is a clue there!! They took votes from the Tories for sure.

So did the Liberal Democrats, for goodness sake. Many of us thought they had died but ended up third party in the parliament. And the other shock was that the SNP got a hammering going from 46 ish seats to 9. Blootered and hammered after running the roost for some time in Scotland and as a key opposition group in the UK court, to nothing. How are they doing today, with you?
John Swinney is their leader. I don’t entertain him – he was part of the troubles recently in the SNP, you don’t put the person who put it wrong back in charge! Something wrong here. I’m all for independence but I don’t think we have the leaders to take it on. So am I pro independence? Led by inadequates? Maybe your team, your peers will be the way ahead? I know for sure that Scotland gets treated like dirt from the aristocratic South East Britain’s. Look at the Irish roots of the term’Tories’ and the WW1 and 2 use of the word ‘fodder’. If you want to get a laugh at it, catch up with the musical ‘Oh What A Lovely War.’

So seats and numbers eh?

Well, U K wide, Labour won 412 seats, a humongous total, with Conservatives 121 seats, Liberal Democrats 71 seats with SNP with 9, after being in the 40’s last time round. There’re a number of others with odd seats here and there. Each gaining a small numbers of seats but none the less interesting that they are there at all. Have a look at where The Reform Party are, when you are older and fascinated by this stuff. (Kids, I don’t like them, some truly creepy people in this group).

Hey you are only 6, 5 and 4 years old….. there is time to see how things go.

At time of writing I live in the town of Melrose, a stuck up little town if there is one in this constituency of Berwickshire, Roxburgh and, Selkirk. Stuck up in the way that some people think they re better than others. (I moved here because accommodation suited my disability.)

The constituency has been held as a Conservative seat and indeed has held this again, along with 2 other Borders seats. Farmers etc, retired folks and a scaremongering Tory campaign about independence and losing pensions but no promises of effective policies that would help the citizens.

The holding MP is John Lamont, won again, though losing 8,000 votes from previous election, credit to him for winning again. But no credit to him for being a truly crap MP taking wages and expenses but doing nothing for constituents. And voting with English MP’s and English policies.
One of his nicknames is ‘Kodak’, because he sticks himself onto the edge of photo’s of groups

So, what now? We’ll see with this lot. The next main event is the Scottish Parliament elections in a year and a half. SNP I think are crapping in their sporrans. What a waste of an opportunity borne out of Scotlands paroquialness.

Tory, a sticky word in any sense of it – can be sourced in the mid-Irish as Toraidhe, translated as to pursue, to hunt the outlaw, the robber.
Tory – robber? Discuss!
